The short version: you can end your own account from inside the app, by yourself, in about four taps. Your login and your personal details are removed. The hours you were paid for stay with your employer, under your name, because payroll law requires that.

How to delete your account in the app

Open Forge Field and sign in.
Tap the gear in the top bar — it is on every screen — and scroll to the bottom of the sheet: below the App section and the Sign out button, the last row is Delete my account.
Read what it says, type your password to confirm, and tap Delete my account.

Nobody has to approve it, and there is no request to file with your employer. It happens the moment you confirm.

What deleting does

Signing in stops working immediately — on that phone and on every other device you were signed in on. Any unused sign-in code or access code stops working too.
Your personal details are removed — the email address you signed in with, your password, your phone number, your home address, your notes and your app preferences.
You come off the roster. You are no longer in the company contact list and can no longer be assigned to a crew or a job.

What is kept, and why

What stays is your name, your hours, the pay rate that was applied to them, and the jobsite location recorded at the moment of each punch — the latitude and longitude your phone reported when you clocked in and out. Those are your employer's time records.

They stay because they are not only yours: they are your employer's payroll records. Under the U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act an employer must keep payroll records for three years, and those records have to say who was paid. A timesheet whose final week has no name on it is not a record that survives the audit it exists for. Deleting them is not something this app is permitted to do on your employer's behalf.

The location fix on each punch is not required by that law, and this page will not pretend otherwise. It is kept for a different reason: it is your employer's own record of where the hours they paid for were worked, recorded at the moment you said you were there. Erasing their verification of their own payroll is not something this app is entitled to do for you either. If a company would rather not keep it, that is a decision for the company — ask your employer.

What is removed is your login, your email address, your phone number and your personal settings — every way of reaching you and every way of signing in as you. What remains is a line in a pay ledger, the punches it is built from, and a security log of account events — such as an access code issued or used, an emergency account recovery, or this deletion — each one stamped with the network address it came from. That log holds no email address, and it stays because a record of who could get into a payroll system is the only thing that can ever answer whether somebody did.

If you no longer have the app

Email wes@ovrtsitesolutions.com and say which company you worked for and the email address you signed in with. Deletion will be carried out for you, and the same bargain applies: identity removed, payroll records retained by the employer.

Two accounts we cannot delete this way

The last owner of a company. Only an owner can make another owner, so a company with none could never add an employee or run payroll again. Make someone else an owner first, then delete — the app says this on the screen, and names the exact taps.
The store-review demo account. It is the account app reviewers sign in with, and it cannot delete the door the next reviewer needs. Every other part of the screen behaves for it exactly as it does for a real account.
